Baker Mayfield and his wife Emily continue to give back to the community with their non-profit: The Baker & Emily Mayfield Foundation. The family is dedicated to the cause and focused on helping people in Florida.
Earlier this month, Emily and Baker Mayfield earned high praise from fans and the Tampa community for donating to a local school: Cocoa (Fla.) Space Coast High.
The donation was football-related, with Mayfield giving $17,9000 to the school’s football team. The main motive, of course, was to ensure the school’s team got new equipment to use.
“This donation will fund brand-new helmets and pads, providing crucial equipment for the team. Youth sports, like football, play an essential role in teaching kids values such as resilience, strength, and the pursuit of success—core beliefs upheld by the BE Mayfield Foundation,” their website read.
Furthermore, they added that with Space Coast desperately in need of new gear, the foundation stepped in to make sure more athletes play safe and continue their passion for the game.
According to Emily Mayfield, though, there was another special reason for them to donate.
As per Emily, they had to donate because the name Cocoa is similar to KoKo, a nickname for their months old baby, Kova Jade.
“It was in ‘Cocoa, FL’ … how could we resist. Cocoa..Koko…get it?” Emily wrote.
Baker Mayfield’s baby is the only thing who can calm down the Bucs QB
Emily and Baker share glimpses of their daughter Kova – born in April – with fans on social media.
However, in an interview, Bucs coach Todd Bowles revealed how Baker’s baby is the only one who can calm Baker down.
“The only person that can calm Baker down is his newborn,” Bowles said in his statement.
Emily even teased Baker over Bowles’ comment.
“Oh, I’m chopped liver?,” Emily wrote on IG.
Now a few months old, Kova Jade is a fixture at NFL games, accompanying Emily to cheer on her father. The Bucs face the Philadelphia Eagles for Week 4 on Sept. 29.
