If you come at the king, you best not miss, as a Philadelphia Eagles fan learned from New Orleans Saints legend Drew Brees on Sunday.
Drew Brees was at the Caesars Superdome for the Saints’ Week 3 home game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Jalen Hurts’ group pulled off a thrilling last-minute 15-12 victory to hand New Orleans their first loss of the season.
After the game, an Eagles fan chirped Brees outside the Superdome by screaming, “Drew Brees! Go birds!” Philadelphia won the game, but the Saints legend won with a check mate chirp of his own.
“I’ve got a pretty good record against you guys,” Brees said.
According to Pro Football Reference, Drew Brees was 4-3 against the Eagles in his legendary career, with a 67.59 completion percentage for 2,106 yards, 16 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
Drew Brees’ old team will try and bounce back and improve to 3-1 when they visit the archrival Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. The Eagles will visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a rematch of last year’s Wild Card Round.
Brees missed the Saints’ 2020 regular-season meeting against the Eagles, who pulled off a 24-21 victory at Lincoln Financial Field. Jalen Hurts led Philly to victories over the Saints in 2021 and yesterday afternoon.
The Saints’ only victory over Philly in the last four meetings came in Week 17 of the 2022 season, which Hurts had to miss due to injury. New Orleans defeated the eventual NFC champions 20-10 in a defensive slugfest.
