San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy took advantage of his bye week to spend some quality time with his family and learn about his fiancée’s family business. Purdy, who got engaged to his longtime girlfriend Jenna Brandt in July, was seen in a video posted on Instagram by Brandt operating a combine harvester on an Iowa farm.
The video, captioned “Wrapping up harvest ’23” with a heart emoji, showed Purdy receiving instructions from his future wife as he harvested wheat and grain. While Iowa is known for its corn production, this particular farming activity seemed to be focused on gathering wheat and grain.
Brock, who grew up and went to high school in Arizona, is unlikely to have had much experience in farming. However, he seemed eager to learn and embrace his fiancée’s family trade. Although there are a few ranches in the area where Purdy grew up, they primarily raise cattle rather than crops.
Purdy and Brandt first met while they were both students at Iowa State. Purdy had an impressive career as the school’s quarterback, setting 32 school records and earning three-time all-Big 12 honors. He is now enjoying success in the NFL as a member of the San Francisco 49ers.
Despite the 49ers‘ recent struggles, with three consecutive losses to the Browns, Vikings, and Bengals after a resounding victory over the Cowboys, Purdy has been performing at a high level. However, some critics have questioned whether his success is solely due to head coach Kyle Shanahan‘s system.
Shanahan quickly dismissed these doubts, stating: “That’s pretty ridiculous. You just got to watch the tape. I mean, he plays at a high level every time he’s been out there. And he’s done it in a lot of different situations versus a lot of different defenses, on the road, at home, in playoff games, when injured. You can’t do all that stuff [if you’re a system quarterback]. He’s been out there too long. It’s on tape.”
As the 49ers prepare to face the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, November 12, they hope to bounce back from their recent losses and regain their winning momentum. Purdy’s dedication to learning about his fiancée’s family business during his bye week reflects his commitment both on and off the field.
