10. CeeDee Lamb was taken 17th overall in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Cowboys.

While he should have made headlines for being drafted in the first round, Lamb actually made headlines for other reasons.

A 13-second video posted on social media went viral of him snatching a cellphone away from his girlfriend, Crymson Rose, with 3 million views on Twitter just three hours after being posted.

Lamb was talking on the phone and had another phone in his lap. Rose snatched the phone on Lamb’s lap. The wide receiver quickly grabbed it out of her hand. Rose went on Twitter to defend herself after the incident.

She claimed, Lamb’s agent “was FACETIMING him while he was on the phone with the Cowboys.” According to Rose, she “was doing the Girlfriend thing.”

Lamb later took to Twitter to defend Rose and quell any issues.

9. Despite their problems on draft night in 2020, the couple is still together currently.

The two have kept their relationship on the down low ever since their viral incident. Rose is a student at the University of Oklahoma, which is likely how she met Lamb.

Neither Lamb nor Rose post videos or photos of each other on their social media. Although she doesn’t often post on Instagram, Rose currently has over 35,000 followers.

She is also the ex-girlfriend of Atlanta Hawks superstar point guard Trae Young. Rose and Young dated in high school.

The 6-feet 2-inch wide receiver was the nation’s 148th ranked recruit in 2017 according to 24/7 Sports. He was a top 25 recruit in the football-obsessed state of Texas.

Lamb was recruited by a host of top college programs including the Alabama Crimson Tide, Texas A&M Aggies, and Auburn Tigers. In the end, Lamb committed to the Oklahoma Sooners where he became an All-American in 2019.

7. In his senior season at Foster High School, Lamb was named the District 27-5A MVP in 2016.

He ended his senior season with the fourth-highest single-season receiving yards total in Texas history. He also had the second-highest number of touchdown catches in a single-season.

CeeDee Lamb stats were unreal in 2016 as a senior. He had 98 receptions for 2,032 yards, caught 33 touchdowns, and returned three punts for touchdowns.

Lamb’s Foster High School team had a record of 14-1 and reached the State 5A-D1 semifinals. Foster High School lost in the semifinals to Temple High School.

At the end of his senior season, Lamb received Houston Touchdown Club’s Offensive Player of the Year and the All-Greater Houston Football Offensive Player of the Year awards.

6. CeeDee Lamb had second thoughts about playing wide receiver for the Sooners after commenting to Oklahoma.

Although Lamb went on to become a legend at the University of Oklahoma, he had second thoughts about playing wide receiver for the Sooners after committing to the program.

In fact, CeeDee Lamb committed to Oklahoma, de-committed, then re-committed to the program.

CeeDee Lamb originally committed to the Sooners in December of 2015, but just months later, he opened his options up once more by decommitting to the school. In July of 2016, he decided to join Oklahoma for good.

Perhaps one of the reasons Lamb had cold feet over playing at Oklahoma was his original desire to play for the LSU Tigers.

LSU was transitioning from head coach Les Miles to Ed Orgeron at the time and overlooked recruiting the star wide receiver.

5. CeeDee Lamb’s actual name is Cedarian.

However, since playing pee-wee football as a child, Lamb has been known as CeeDee. The name was given to him by his pee-wee football coach Derrick Reed, who gave players nicknames.

Near the end of Lamb’s first practice with the team, the coach bestowed the future Dallas Cowboys player with the now famous name.

4. CeeDee Lamb had a difficult childhood.

His parents divorced when he was young. Lamb spent a lot of time during his childhood at his football coach, Derrick Reed’s, house. It made life easier for Lamb to be away from his mom and dad.

Lamb’s mother, Leta Ramirez, struggled to get the young wide receiver to practice five days a week as the 45-mile journey was difficult to make due to Houston traffic.

She had four other children to worry about too. Due to his mother’s sacrifices, Lamb developed a strong work ethic and was determined to succeed.

Lamb’s desire to improve on the field came early in life. He watched game film at the age of 9 and 10 to develop as a player.

3. When Lamb was just 14 years old, his stepfather, Samuel Moreno Jr., was shot and killed.

Moreno’s death came before Lamb’s freshman year of high school. Lamb’s cousin, Casey Pickney, died of Lupus while the wide receiver was at Oklahoma. Those deaths weren’t the first Lamb experienced. His uncle, Chester Ramirez Junior, died when Lamb was young.

The wide receiver took the pain of each tragedy and turned it into motivation to succeed.

2. The 2020 NFL Draft was one of the biggest days in the life of CeeDee Lamb.

To mark the occasion, he had some customized jewelry made for the event. The custom bling was created by Leo Frost who runs a jewelry shop in Houston. The shop outfits some of the top athletes on the planet.

Lamb had a customized gold and diamond number 32 necklace made prior to the draft. The number 32 necklace was made to honor Lamb’s uncle.

1. Lamb has worn a gold chain with the number 32 attached to it since his final year of high school.

The necklace honors his late uncle Chester Ramirez Junior. Ramirez died on July 3, 2016, from natural causes. He was just 42 years old. Ramirez was a standout football player and member of the Air Force Academy.

Lamb credits his uncle as one of the biggest influences in his life. Ramirez wore the number 32 jersey. For that reason, Lamb wore number 3 in high school and number 2 in college.

Ramirez wasn’t the only Lamb family member to play football in college. CeeDee’s father, Cliff Lamb, played at MidAmerica Nazarene and CeeDee’s uncle, Adam Lamb, played at Texas Southern.
